WAITING FOR IRENE

I was sitting in the faded lamplight shortly after midnight waiting for the storm.
I had planned to devote this weekend to the 15th annual fringe festival. I was to run from black box to black box, weaving through the winding vines of village streets, squeezing shoulder to shoulder with dozens of strangers, a-gog and a-buzz with anticipation.
